Craft & Design
Stoneware pots, copper green clay jars, glass and silver jewelry, wool felt, and glass vases in all the colors of the rainbow—Wanås Konst Shop expands its selection every year with artisanal products and design from the region. The artisanal products are selected in collaboration with The Crafts Center, THE CENTER OF CRAFTS, an association of around 800 craftspeople and artisans. This year, we also have items from SPOKs souvenir collection through FORM/DESIGN CENTER in Malmö—sustainable products designed and produced in Skåne. Through the shop’s collaborations, Wanås Konst highlights activities and products from the entire region.

Made by Wanås Konst
Made by Wanås Konst is an initiative by ceramicists Linda Herrlin and Jennifer Forsberg. Like a baton in a relay, a ceramicist is invited to create an object in clay from Wanås. The series include Jennifer Forsberg’s Hus (sold out) and Linda Herrlin’s Drejad kruka, which can be purchased in Wanås Shop. In 2020, the Malmö-based ceramicist Pernilla Norman presents Tegeldjur [Brick Animal] and a mortar made of Wanås clay. The historical dimensions of the brick have been Norrman’s starting point for the work with the local clay. She describes:
“Near Wanås Gumlösa church is found, Scandinavia’s oldest brick building from 1192. This historic brick has been the starting point in my work with local clay from Wanås. From the handmade clay stone I have carved an animal, heavy and with fingerprints. The brick animal wants to capture someone's gaze and thus the sense of the material; the strength and durability of the historical brick as a vault over mankind, time and culture. In the landscape of Skåne, there is plenty of natural clay, historically this has benefited the production of bricks and pottery goods. I made my brick mortar out of a handmade clay stone. The raw ceramic surface is molded with milk – a natural taste and odorless method traditionally used to treat earthenware vessels. Let it wear as it is or renew the surface with a splash of milk on dry, cleaned goods. "
